Meritus Scholars Return to Campus!

Thanks to the collective support of our friends, donors, and readers like you, this year Meritus College Fund is proud to support 249 active Scholars as they either return to campus or head to college for the first time this month. Naim Algaheim, a native of Yemen, became a Meritus Scholar in 2014 and enters his final year at San Francisco State University this fall.

A business marketing major, Naim has consistently carried a 3.5+ GPA during his college career while actively building his professional network and planning for his future post-graduation. For the past two summers, Naim interned at Deloitte through Meritus’ career development program. He made quite an impression–Deloitte offered him a full-time position with the company while he was still a junior in college! While Naim was thrilled with Deloitte’s offer, he’s intent on achieving his degree before entering the professional workforce.

Naim is one of the hundreds of Meritus Scholars excelling in college and on track to graduate, and we are proud that 9 out of 10 Meritus Scholars graduate college with a four-year degree. In our ongoing effort to better support and meet the needs of our Scholars, Meritus College Fund provides more than just financial and academic support. We also provide the career guidance and summer internship opportunities that are crucial to helping Scholars prepare for the future.

In addition to helping Scholars build brighter futures, Meritus also helps them prepare for their return to school. This fall our College Success Advisors are busy conducting check-ins with all our returning Scholars in addition to supporting our 2017 cohort as they head to their college campuses for the first time. Every Meritus CSA personally checks in with each student they advise to make sure Scholars are prepared to have a successful and productive year.

We wish all of our Scholars the best of luck in the year ahead and send our deepest thanks to all of the supporters who make our work possible!
