It’s been a busy summer for Meritus Scholars! In addition to all their summer internships, many Scholars participated in a series of career-related workshops, presented with the help of Meritus’ corporate and community partners. Our summertime career events help Scholars to build their networks, learn crucial workplace skills, and explore future careers so they are well-positioned to leverage their college degrees after graduation. Here are a few highlights:
- LinkedIn welcomed Meritus Scholars for a ‘Rock your Profile’ event, where volunteers from LinkedIn and our Young Professionals Council mentored students as they translated their professional experiences into compelling LinkedIn profiles.
- eBay and StubHub presented a ‘Careers in Business and Technology’ panel for our Scholars. Senior professionals from Lucidworks, MasterClass, and StubHub talked about their experiences working in the business and technology sectors and answered questions about their unique professional journeys.
- KQED hosted Meritus for a ‘Careers in Community and Nonprofit Work’ panel. Professionals from the social impact sector talked about rewards and challenges of working in mission-driven organizations. Panelists from WaterNOW, ACLU of Northern California, the SFSU Wellness Department, and KQED represented a wide range of causes.
A huge thank you to our partners for making these events so successful! The summer series culminates with our 2017 Summer Internship Summit, hosted by Salesforce on August 9th. Click here to learn more about the event or to RSVP.
