Mayor’s “I Am the Future” Scholarships Awarded to 10 Meritus Scholars

Just this month, Mayor Ed Lee awarded 10 Meritus Scholars with his signature “I Am the Future” Mayor’s Scholarships. Established in 2011, “I am the Future” Scholarships are granted each year to graduating San Francisco Unified School District seniors and those currently enrolled in college, based on nominations from education organizations such as Meritus. The “I Am the Future” scholarships are designed to assist first generation college students who lack the financial resources needed to pursue higher education. The criteria for students awarded with this prestigious scholarship parallel those of Meritus: students achieve academically, are highly-motivated, and are actively involved in their communities. Congratulations to all of this year’s 40 “I am the Future” Scholarship awardees!
