This month we are excited to welcome Mario De Anda to the Meritus team! Mario is a Deeper Learning Equity Fellow who comes to us from East Palo Alto’s Foundation for a College Education. As our new Director of Programs, Mario will oversee and drive our college success, career mentoring, and internship programs. He is deeply committed to expanding college access and completion for first-generation and low-income students.
Previously, Mario held the position of Director of Post-Secondary Programs with Big Picture Learning. In addition, he has served as the Director of Scholarship Programs for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and was a senior financial aid administrator at the University of Notre Dame. Mario received his BA in Economics and Psychology from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, and a certificate in nonprofit management from San Francisco State University. Mario, the son of Mexican immigrants, was born and raised in El Paso, Texas.
As we say hello to Mario, we also say goodbye to his predecessor, Denise Miller. Denise was recently married and has relocated to Colorado. She will be greatly missed! Thankfully, Denise will continue to support our work in career development on a part-time basis.
