Financial and academic support are two of the three pillars of Meritus’ comprehensive programming. The third pillar is our Career Development Program, which supports Scholars as they prepare for life after graduation and includes paid summer internships. Internships are integral to our Scholar’s post-graduation success and expose them to career pathways, professional business environments, and enables them to build real-world skills and develop their own professional network.
This year our goal is to place 70 Scholars in paid summer internships and to reach that goal we need your help. Do you know of any companies looking to hire summer interns? If so, we’d love to talk with you! Here’s how you can support our efforts:
- Connect us to a company decision-maker. We have the most success creating opportunities for our Scholars when we have buy-in from people who set organizational priorities.
- Introduce Meritus to a company even if an internship isn’t guaranteed. We can explore other professional development opportunities like career workshops, resume writing, or job-shadowing events.
- Check in with your Corporate and Social Responsibility team and ask about the different ways in which your company supports local nonprofits.
We are open to exploring internship placements with all kinds of companies but specifically seek opportunities with small to mid-size companies where our Scholars will thrive!
